DIWALI - FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

Nov 4 - 13, 2023

We are thrilled to invite you to join us in celebrating Diwali in one of our community’s favorite places on the planet, Rajasthan, India.

On this adventure retreat, led by Gioconda Parker and Sarah Montross, you will experience the depth and traditions of holy cities of Rajasthan. Here is India's archetypal land of maharajas and medieval forts, palaces and tigers, and kaleidoscopic festivals.

Traditional Hindu ritual setup with flowers, fruits, sweets, and a lit oil lamp for a puja ceremony.

Rajasthan really is the jewel in India's crown. After being nourished in Jaipur - a city painted pink with some of the most colorful bazaars in India, we will head to the Thar Desert of Rajasthan and it's sweeping landscapes. You’ll have space for peace and contemplation with opportunities to practice yoga asana, with guided meditation and the healing practices of Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra offered throughout the retreat as well.

From Jaipur we will journey to the Blue City of Jodhpur. Modern Jodhpur stretches well beyond the city walls, but it’s the immediacy and buzz of the old Blue City and the larger-than-life Mehrangarh fort that capture travelers’ imaginations. Below the fort, the Blue City is a tangle of winding, glittering, medieval streets lined with shops and bazaars waiting for you to explore. We'll stay overnight at a luxury desert camp and experience a once-in-a- lifetime sunset around a campfire with a traditional folk dance. You will learn about Indian desert culture through a camel safari amidst the beautiful landscape and wildlife of the Thar Desert.

We will seal our adventure with one of the most significant festivals - Diwali, also know as The Festival of Lights. It's a celebration that includes good food, fireworks, colored sand, and special candles and lamps. Hindus interpret the Diwali story based upon where they live. But there's one common theme no matter where people celebrate: the victory of good over evil.

Whether you’re visiting to experience the colorful traditions of India or seeking answers to life’s deepest questions, India has a way of awakening you to a deeper state of awareness. Join us for this journey in Rajasthan and you'll never be the same.
